I've spent over 40 years in the medical field — much of that in heart and vascular care — watching preventable diseases quietly take people's independence away from them. Not all at once. Slowly. One limitation at a time.

Obesity. Type 2 diabetes. Coronary artery disease. Conditions that begin with decades of small, correctable choices — and end with dependence on medication, on caregivers, or on a system that treats the symptom but never addresses the cause.

The patient who changed everything for me was a diabetic man who had already lost one leg to amputation. He was facing the loss of the second. Not because medicine failed him — but because no one had ever given him the tools to prevent what was coming.

I built HealthyRant and The Independence Standard because I want to work myself out of a job. I want a generation of people in their 50s, 60s, and 70s who know their numbers, train for function, eat for metabolic health, and never need the procedures I've spent my career performing.
